The Norwegian Bamako team joined forces with Miss World Hungary 2009 and Miss Universe 2009 to build and equip a small school in a remote Malian village.
A few years ago Kourmikouru wasn’t even a village. After Norwegian aid workers helped the local nomads dig a well, a permanent community was established around the water source. Even though 500 children live now in Kourmikouru they have no school.
Illiteracy is 99% and there’s no hope to end the cycle of poverty
With the help of Budapest-Bamako Rally veteran, Hans Petter Farestad fundraising has begun to build a proper school in Kourmikoro.
Orsi and Zsuzsi are in charge of gathering supplies, furniture, computers, copiers and most importantly solar electricity panels as the village has no electricity. You too can get involved in this project by donating any of the needed supplies or contributing to Kurmikouru School Fund.
